Hi PowerBASIC folks,
I think it's now the perfect time to change my english speaking forum. :-)
I found here a lot of interesting posts, great users, nice ideas and a lot of "uncensored" stuff,
congratulation to Theo and Joca!
Best wishes,

Welcome, Thomas!
Welcome Thomas, very nice to have you here!

Hi Everyone. I'm a beginner to PowerBasic and programming. Dabbled with QBasic a little in the early 90s but that's about it. Just purchased the PBWin 8 compiler and I was hoping someone could direct me to some good tutorials, something to help me get my feet wet. Thanks in advance for any and all help and advice.
Darrell
Welcome aboard!
Some time ago, Ed Turner started a programming book. There are several chapters available to download. Go to his site and click the Programming Book link in the top menu: http://www.m4ware.com/
If you can get a copy of Charles Petzold's book "Programming Windows", 5th Edition, still one of the best, you will find in this forum the book's examples translated to PowerBASIC: http://www.jose.it-berater.org/smfforum/index.php?board=5.0
Thank you Jose. I'll check them out. I appreciate the help.
@Darell, we have a lot of good tutorials here, don't miss to take a look on Fred's SDK-Tutorials.
Then what you do not find here, you get here:

and here:

Also take a look under "third party" in this forum, to get the links for good enhancements like SED.
Thank you for the links, Theo. After checking out some of this, I can see that it won't be a piece of cake! :o
Time to dig out "diligence" in my old age! ;D
Hello Thomas and Darrell! Programming is indeed challenging but also rewarding. I learned Windows Api coding mostly from Charles Petzolds books, and also translations of his programs to PowerBASIC by Keith Waters. And of course Jose has translated I believe a large part (if not all of it) of Petzold's Windows 98 book to PowerBASIC.
Charles Petzold wrote his books mainly for accomplished professional C programmers who were turning to the Windows OS from DOS. And even in the context of this somewhat 'elete' group he estimated it would take 6 months of hard work to come to terms with the coding. So just keep this in mind if at times the struggle seems daunting.

:D Nice to see you here.
May be this could be the occasion to re-promote a bit that IRC channel of yours? :)
Bye!

Yes, of course. The IRC-Server and the #pbhq.cafe channel is open for all PowerBASIC users.
All PowerBASIC users are welcome with pleasure.
