Yesterday I got the new PB Gazette.
Something that i hoped to get earlier.
In clear words, Vivian Zale shows her commitement to PowerBasic.

A good sign i have hoped to see earlier.
Looks like the management holes are filled.
Now lets see the next steps, especially how the technical holes will be filled.

With all the respect due to this more than 70 years old lady, perhaps it would have been better that Bob left her a good life insurance, instead of this brain storming PowerBABY.

But may be, if Bob had a good life insurance, his wife would be able to invest a part of it, to hire a new young brain that would continue Bob's work.  :-X

I did not receive the new Power Gazzete.  I have the #114 sent by Bob Zale in October 2012.
I do not know why they not sent me the #115.  Please If somebody can sent me to ivega718@hotmail.com  or say me
where I can see.

Thank you

Theo,

I think that the 3-month lack of activity on the Beta/forum is a very bad signal.
Hence my own C/C++ investment  >:(

I would have thought and hoped that more information regarding the direction of PB would have been announced by now. Other than the few "business as normal" posts, it's been pretty quiet. Other than knowing that Mrs. Zale is now leading the company, the website is up, forums are working, emails being responded to(?), what else do we know? I'd love to know who is now the talent behind ensuring that the compiler is maintained and, more importantly, improved and progressed to make it better. Maybe they are still searching for that talented programming guru?

Paul,

I guess Tom is back, but for how long, that's the question.

I thought that Tom Hanlin would be the one involved in compiler development. A few years ago when things went strange and Tom left PB to purchase IBasic then I figured that his ties with PB would be severed forever. I guess those wounds were subsequently healed. He did post in the PB forum commenting on Bob's passing. Maybe he will be integrated into the development process again and be the key player with the compiler. I did buy IBasic and I was enthusiastic with the direction Tom said he was going take the product....then everything went crazy and the whole IBasic experience left me with a sour taste in my mouth. No matter what business errors were made, there is no question that Tom is an amazing programmer and has the assembly language skills.

The problem we are faced with, is that the PB's policy of not giving the name(s) of the staff members (mainly the name of the new core programmer), lead's us to make all kind of speculations, especially because Jim himself has a short PB's history.

I know Tom, from the time he worked for HAMMERLY, i also know his strengths and weaknesses, and the spook of IBasic is still in the memory of many of us. However except him, i have a hard time to figure who could take on Bob's work within a delay that is not too long.

The slow process of producing a new PB's version has always been a handicap, and the present situation shouldn't perdure too long...

At this time, i believe that PB will not end shortly.
If they will be able to uphold the company and earn the needed money is another question.
On the other side, PB is a very good compiler, its there and they have the source.
They have a WEB-Site and they have a customer base.
It would be possible to make a bussiness out of this.
If somebody is the right person for this.
